I used to travel often for work with many days or weeks on the road or in airports. It wasn’t easy to stay on track with my diet. I began looking for places to eat that have a low-calorie menu option.

In case you are someone that has the same lifestyle or just want to know where you can go to get a meal that won’t break your diet. Keep on reading and I’ll list the top 10 restaurants for anyone on a diet. Not necessarily in order, my top 10 picks:

10. Applebees-     

Their Grilled Cajun Lime Tilapiais only 310 Calories with 6G Fat and 1250 Sodium. Applebees has several items on their menu under 500 calories and there is always one close by in most places I would travel. The cost is usually under or within $10, so it’s good if you’re on a budget too.

9. Baja Fresh-

Interesting fact about Baja Fresh is they don’t have a microwave, freezer, or can opener in any of their 300 locations.  The mahi mahitacos are only 460 caloriesand that is if you eat two of them. The fish is traditionally battered and fried.

8. Carl’s Jr.-

Also known as Hardee’s depending where you are located. Try the Charbroiled BBQ Chicken sandwich. It’s 360 calories, 4.5 GFat, and has 1150 MG Sodium. I’ve tried this one several times, especially when on the road. It’s a fast and easy choice when you are counting calories.

7. Chick-fil-a-

If you are near one of these locations, you can go wrong. Most of the menu is under 500 calories. For example the Chick-fil-A Chargrilled Chicken Sandwichis only 270 calories, 3.5G Fat, 940mg sodium. You can knock off an additional 60 Calories if you ask them to hold the mayo.

6. Chili’s-

Another restaurant chain that offers a menu of low calorie options. Unfortunately their famous baby back rips don’t make the dieters list, but the sizzle and spice firecracker tilapia is only 470 calories, 23G Fat, 1520mg sodium. 

5. Denny’s-

Open 24 hours a day, you will always have a place to eat on a diet no matter what time of day it is. If you come for breakfast, try the two fried eggs with juice and oatmeal. Calories 410, 20G Fat, 760mg sodium. 

4. P.F. Changs-

One of my favorites to stop at is P.F. Changs. They have a variety of options that you can choose from. Two of them are the Wild Alaskan Sockeye 750 Calories, 50G Fat, 23G Carbohydrates.Or try the Ginger Chicken and Broccoli 660 Calories, 26G Fat,45G Carbohydrates.

3. Sonic- 

Drive-in restaurant where it would be easy to cheat on your diet, but they do have some options that are ok. Sonic Burger withmustard is only 540 Calories, 25G Fat, and 730MG sodium. Skip the fries and soft drink and you will easily be within your diet.

2. Subway-

You might already know, but Subway will prepare any sandwich on their menu as a salad. I haven’t tried this, but if you wanted to skip the bread, it’s something to try. Ok, you won’t be able to get a foot long, but if you stick to a six inch sub you can get the Steakand Cheese with only 400 Calories, 12G Fat, and 1110mg Sodium. 

1.Taco Bell-

Not known for a it’s diets menu, Taco Bell has  some choices that you can get on a diet. The Chicken Fiesta Taco Salad is 470Calories, 9G Fat, and 1100mg Sodium.If you’d like, for dessert their cinnamon twists are only 170 Calories, 7G Fat, 200mg sodium.
