Well, yes and no.
When asking does planet fitness have free weights.
This is not a good gym for guys that want to bulk up and add size to their frame because they don’t have enough weights to help you accomplish this goal.
Planet fitness has a dumbbells section and at the time I went there the heaviest dumbbell only weighs 50 pounds.
They had one squat rack which was constantly in use and other than that there are a bunch of weight machines and cardio machines.
I actually lost muscle and size when I was a member of planet fitness.
Overall I didn’t enjoy this gym and only lasted a few months.
And of course you have the dreaded “Lunk Alarm” to contend with.

It’s inexpensive so it’s good if you are on a budget.
You want pizza when you go to the gym.
Seriously, pizza at the gym.
If you are a beginner, teen, or only just casually going to a gym.
This might be a good gym for you too.
Planet fitness has tanning beds which were affordable and usually easy to schedule time on.

If you consider dumbbells your free weight than yes.
Although if you are referring to adding plates to a barbell and lifting.
Very minimal and usually not enough weight to make it worth your time and effort.

So if you are looking for an alternative to Planet Fitness there are several great options.

I’ve been adding to my home gym for years but you really don’t need that much to get started.
Even if your home is small you can get a quality workout from home.

If you rather have someone to help you learn exercises and push you to reach your fitness goals.

There are many other gyms to choose from other than Planet Fitness.
A serious gym has all the equipment you need for a full body workout.
Plenty of weights from 5 pounds to 150 pound dumbbells.
And you’ll never see a Lunk Alarm anywhere.

They just won’t have what you will need for a great workout.
And even though the Lunk Machine can be funny at times.
It’s ridiculous and kinda insulting to people that take fitness seriously.
